Read the analytical method before the headline number

Why method purpose, operating conditions and reportable attributes determine what an analytical result can support.

Analytical results are inseparable from the methods that produced them. A reported value becomes useful only when the method purpose, sample preparation, instrument conditions, calculation basis and reporting rules are understood.

Method suitability is also contextual. A procedure designed to confirm identity is not automatically suitable for quantifying purity, and a purity method does not by itself establish content or every possible impurity class.

A procurement review should therefore connect each commercial claim to a defined analytical question and the corresponding record. Where that connection is absent, the correct status is an evidence gap rather than an assumed pass.
